Winter is Here, Let’s Get Into Alignment

We made it.

Winter Solstice is here.

Before we go, there is one more form of movement I’m called to share.

But first, let us appreciate the changing season.

As we enter Winter, we’re presented with a unique opportunity to focus on nurturing ourselves and getting into alignment.

The next three months are the hibernation season.

This is the perfect time to hunker down and work on you

This is a season to reset for rest, rejuvenation and recovery.

A time to reflect on what we’ve learned and be still with it.

Winter is when we take our lessons from the past and transform them into wisdom for the future.

Now is the ideal time to truly nurture our Self.

Be self-indulgent in our self-care.

Not just on Sundays, but every day.

Pamper our body with abundant rest, hydration, and nourishing food.

Don’t forget, the fundamentals of self-care (rest, water, good food) are free and accessible to everyone.

Self-care is our birthright, with no barriers to entry.

One way or another we tend to ourselves every day anyway.

Self-care is an invitation to do so with intention.

To honor this season of rest, The Body Ministry Blog will be dormant until Spring.

But may pop up from time to time, whenever it feels right.

For now, we rest and will bloom together when Spring arrives.

In the meantime we will focus on getting into alignment, physically and energetically.

The last form of movement we will explore is core work.

The physical embodiment of alignment.

Whether it’s forearm planks, side planks, V-ups, bird dogs, hollow body holds, flutter kicks, woodchops, or hanging leg raises, all core exercises require proper alignment.

The power of these movements comes from the integration and collaboration of the various muscle groups that make up our core.

And none of this can happen without alignment.

While our abs are often the most visible part of the core, they are far less effective without the support of other muscles we don’t see as much like the transverse abdominals, obliques, and lumbar muscles.

Similarly, while we can see our physical body, we know that we are supported by the collaboration of our unseen spiritual team, our Angels, Guides, and Ancestors.

The metaphysics of core work is seen in how we show up in the world.

We are either in alignment or out of alignment.

We can grind through life, or an ab workout, with the hope of seeing transformation.

But when we’re not in alignment, the inefficiency of the activity wears us down.

We burn out and quit before seeing meaningful results.

On the other hand, when we focus on getting into alignment first, we find that we reach our goals much faster, easier and can be maintained for longer.

The beauty of core work is that we can focus on alignment at any time, simply by being aware of our posture.

Whether standing or sitting, adjusting our posture to align the spine engages our core and enhances the flow of Kundalini prana through the body.

That’s why we instantly feel more confident when we straighten our spine, roll our shoulders back, and raise our chin

We’re in alignment, and our life force is flowing freely.

This winter if you are called to perform only one movement, consider core as an investment in your 2025 goals.

It is an opportunity to appreciate the discomfort of adjusting to get into alignment vs the discomfort of being out of alignment.

And once you find alignment nothing else will do.
