Something that can make you do wrong…make you do right

Where’s the lie…?

As we sit here reflecting on love on Valentines Day 2023, I think most of us adults can point to a relationship where we learned this hard lesson!

Stress, lack of sleep, depression, comfort eating, drugs/alcohol, avoidance, headaches…any of these sound familiar from selecting the wrong person?

Well, these are also the same symptoms of choosing not to take care of our health.

A lot of people find themselves swearing off relationships on Valentines Day…and that is ok. That’s their choice.

However, I believe many more of us are more committed than ever to being in the RIGHT relationship, with the RIGHT person.

How many of us are spending time forgiving ourselves and loving ourselves so that we can be healed and move on?

How many of us are setting clear standards and boundaries about what we do and do not want, so that the next time around our heart doesn’t get broken?

How many of us are being more intentional and selective with who we let into our space, because we fully appreciate how precious we actually are?

How many of us are doing the same with our health/fitness?

In the same way we need to heal/forgive ourselves from past relationship mistakes we need to do the same thing with our diet/fitness ‘failures’

In the same way we need to set boundaries and standards for others, we can set them for ourselves regarding how we treat ourselves….Sis, if you won’t let a man take you on a date to a wing stop, mc Donalds or subway, you shouldn’t take yourself there either!

In the same way we only want the best man in our life, we should only want the best health/fitness program because our body is precious

Nothing else is going to affect your quality of life more than these two choices. But do we weigh them equally?

Unfortunately there isn’t a National Health day, that is commercialized, hyped up, exploited, etc. like Valentines Day, so I chose today to make this point.

All I know is that in 2023 we are tired. We don’t want to waste time or energy. We want all the good stuff life has to offer. We are done sacrificing!
