Spirit Gives us Breath, Breath Gives Us Life
Breath is everything.
Breath is life.
Let’s learn how to invite Spirit into our body using our breath.
We call them deep, belly breaths.
The biological term is diaphragmatic breathing.
If you are a woman who is used sucking in your stomach, this may feel uncomfortable and vulnerable.
The more we can let go and let our belly flop out, the better the breath we will take.
Let go.
Let Spirit in…
Here’s a good practice for beginners:
1. Find a comfortable position: Sit or lie down in a comfortable position where you can relax your shoulders and neck.
2. Place your hands: Put one hand on your chest and the other on your belly, just below your rib cage.
3. Inhale deeply: Breathe in slowly through your nose. As you inhale, feel your belly rise and expand. Your chest should move very little.
4. Exhale completely: Exhale slowly through your mouth or nose, whichever is more comfortable for you. As you exhale, feel your belly fall inward.
5. Repeat: Practice this deep breathing for several minutes. Focus on the sensation of your breath filling your belly.
From a scientific standpoint deep, belly breaths engages the diaphragm fully, which promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and increases oxygen intake.
From a Spiritual standpoint deep, belly breathes creates a space to become present, engage with intentionally with Source and elevate our energy.
It's a foundational technique that we will use as we advance our breathing practice.
Find pleasure in your breath.
Enjoy your breath.
